You hated this, you absolutely hated this! Living here, with him, just didn't seem right. He was loud, obnoxious, narcissist… the list goes on, and truth be told… you were yearning for someone else.

"HEY! ____! Get your ass over here!" You sighed heavily, lifting yourself from the comfortable couch you were previously lounging on, you made your way up the stairs to find an extremely angry Prussian at the top. "When I said clean my room, I didn't mean shove EVERYTHING under my BED" he snarled through gridded teeth before raising a hand, and smacking you right across the face.

You fell to the ground with a hard thud, your eyes tearing up, and cold, salty water threatened to fall, but you sucked it up, and held through, not wanting to show your weakness in front of the fallen nation. Although Prussia wasn't considered a nation anymore, he still commanded you as if he was one. Bossing you around, telling you what's what and not letting your country thrive like it used to.

You were beginning to crumble, your country was almost broke, and most of the people had moved away to thrive once more  somewhere else. You feared you would become like Prussia, or even worse, like the Great Roman Empire, and completely be whipped off the face of the earth.

"I'm sorry Pru-"

"Mr. Awesome"

"Mr. Awesome, but… you told me that I should clean it the way I clean my own room…" you glared up at him, what a huge mistake. Your solar plexus was quickly acquainted with a boot. You groaned, and grabbed you stomach in pain, still holding back tears that you refused to let fall.

"Don't be a smart-ass with me!" he glared down at you "Your as worthless as your mother" He used that on you every time, because he knew it hurt, because he knew that was the one thing that would make you brake, but no, not this time. You stood silently; rolling your sleeves up to reveal battered and bruised arms.

"Don't talk about my mother," you stared at him, straight in his crimson eyes, your (e/c) eyes glaring with the same intensity as his own "you don't deserve to talk about my mother" He only laughed, you weren't intending to make him scared, you meant it though, no one was worthy enough to speak of your mother, not even you.

"Are you trying to scare ME?!" he laughed even harder, looking at you straight in the eyes "Fuck off you useless pipsqueak" he pushed you into the wall, and made his way down the stairs. All you could do, was slip into the small room he had given you, and under the one blanket you were allowed to have, you laid your head on the cold excuse for a pillow, and cried yourself to sleep.

It was the same routine in the  morning as it had been for the past year or so, You would wake up to Prussia screaming at you to clean up a mess he had made in the kitchen, then have him yell at you to make him breakfast, and before you could make your own, he would force you to clean the house, do the laundry, the dishes, put his cloths away, you honestly wouldn't be surprised if he asked you to brush his teeth for him… let's not give him any ideas now…

"_____!" you heard his voice call to you from the kitchen. Slowly, you got out of bed, and made your way down the stairs, you didn't bother to get dressed, or do anything about your appearance, not that Prussia even cared.

Once he saw you, you heard a glass slam down on the counter, and heaving footsteps come closer to you, closing your eyes tightly, preparing for a hand to come down on you, but this time, that wasn't the case. You heard his breathing, a slow, steady rhythm in front of you. Blinking; you looked up to see him smiling. 'Wait… smiling?' you raised a brow at him.
"Don't look at me like that. I'm smiling for once, at you, you should be honored!" he snapped, and you put on your best fake smile, he nodded in approval. "Now, go get dressed, you're going shopping for me." This time, you actually were smiling. When he asked you to go shopping, this gave you the freedom to do whatever you wanted, without him constantly looking over your shoulder.

"Y-yes sir!" you stuttered in amazement, holding back the urge to wrap your arm around the man you had made your life miserable. "Anything you need in particular?" you had learned to ask this… last time you didn't come back with what the Prussian wanted, you had been smacked around so bad, you weren't able to leave your bed the next day.

"Beer." He said simply before walking off towards the couch. Of course it wasn't the best idea to get him beer, but then again it wasn't the best idea not to… It was a 50/50 choice here, either way, you would be in pain.

The outside air smelt so refreshing compared to the smell of alcohol and man stench. Sadly, he didn't trust you with his car, so you had to walk, but that didn't bother you one bit. You loved walking, stretching your legs, you could skip, walk, jog, ANYTHING! And the best part of it all, Prussia wasn't there to yell at you and tell you want he wanted you to do in exact, precise detail.

'Wait, precise detail my ass' you laughed at your own thoughts 'The only time that messed up excuse of a man has ever told me exactly what he wanted was when he was drunk… and even then it wasn't precise!' You had a wide smile on your face, something that rarely occurred in your ill-fated life.

Finally reaching your destination, you took in a large breath, and sighed heavily. You loved the market so… for more reasons than one. Every time Prussia allowed you to go, there was one man that always made your life easier. It may seem strange, but it was in fact Russia, who, over time allowed you to call him Ivan.

It wasn't a surprise that every time he was at the market, he was getting Vodka and a sunflower. Why the sunflower? You weren't so sure, but that didn't matter to you.
"Ivan!" you smiled, running over to him, your eyes bright and your smile wide. He looked over at you with a calm childlike smile.

"Why hello _____" His thick Russian accent sounded wonderful in your ears. That was just one reason why you liked him. "How are you today?" He asked, turning back to the vender who was passing him a large bottle of Vodka.

"Not so good…" you felt your cheek from where Prussia had hit you last night. You had tried your hardest to cover it up with makeup, but it was obvious there was a big, blue bruise on your face.

"Is he hitting you again ____?" He looked over at your with concern, there was no point in lying to him, you nodded. "You know… if he ever tries to hurt you, you only have to come get me, da?" he placed a gently hand on your shoulder, which in turn made you blush deeply, but he didn't seem to notice.

"Thanks Ivan, but I doubt there is anything you can do to help" you sighed, he only shook his head.

"Nonsense! I would gladly beat him with my pipes, just for you!" he smiled brightly, he really meant it, that made you laugh.

"Thanks Ivan that really means a lot to me" your smile was simple, yet sweat, he nodded his head, and headed towards the flower stand, you fallowed him closely.
"No problem, I'll give you my sunflower today, da?" As he searched through the sunflowers, you only shook your head.

"Ivan, it's your sunflowers, you keep it" You laughed "Prussia would probably throw it out before I could find it a vase." At that, you frowned.

"Nonsense! I will come over with you, da?" You looked up at him with surprise 'If he comes with me… oh no! What would Prussia do?! He would beat me for sure!' you frantically thought of a good excuse, only one came into your mind.

"U-uh… You can't Prussia asked me to… Paint his room! Wait no… I mean… the whole house! You know him! Always wanting everything to be 'awesome'!" you laughed nervously, hoping he would buy your absolutely horrible excuse. He laughed softly at that.

"Take the sunflower, da?" he held it out to you, and you had no choice but to take it.

"Fine… but, I don't want to waste your money Ivan, I mean-" he shook his head.

"It's not wasting money, _____" he smiled brightly "It's something to make you smile! My sunflower deserves something to make her smile, da?" he tilted his head, and smiled.
Your face was the same color as the red tulips beside you. Looking away, you smiled ever so brightly.

"Thanks…" you held the sunflower closer to you. 'His sunflower?" You couldn't help but smile even brighter.

"Let me help you with your shopping, da?" You nodded up at him, your blush still showing, but once again, he apparently didn't notice.

You walked back to Prussia's with Ivan at your side, he had asked you… scratch that, he forced you to let him carry the bags.

"Prussia is gonna kill me when he sees you… you know that right?" you looked over at him with a sad smile, because it was true.

"If he touches you, he will be dead! No worries ____" He smiled so brightly, as if it was nothing, which made you smile as well.

"If you say so Ivan" with that, the two of you continued walking.
You arrived at the door, taking a deep breath you pulled out your key, no use; you had forgotten to lock the door before you left.  Entering, you held the door open for Ivan, who simple stepped passed you.

"You sure you need to paint the house ____? It looks like you just painted it!" he commented before kicking his boots off. You sighed, you didn't want to tell him you lied, so you just staid quiet and took your shoes off.

You heard footsteps coming down the stairs. 'I'm so dead' you stayed close to Russia, who looked at you confusedly.

"It's alright _____, I already told you, and I promise to keep you safe, da?" The Prussian grunted, looking at the two of you with fierce crimson eyes.

"What are you doing here Russia?" he asked harshly, you were hiding behind the Russian, knowing there was no way Prussia would lay a hand on you in the presence of the stronger nation.

"I came to help _____, I carried the bags home" He motioned to the bags, but Prussia didn't care. He glared over at you, his eyes saying what they usually said when you brought company over without asking, and they said, as they glowed as cold as fire: 'you are so dead', but Russia noticed this.

"I also promised her that if you laid a hand on her, I would kill you" he said cheerily, you where grabbing the back of his coat when he said these words, your eyes closed, you were holding in whimpers of fear when finally you heard Prussia take a step forward.

"Bring it on!" with his arms wide, you felt Russia move away from you. You saw him pull out a long metal pipe from nowhere, lift in the air, and take a hard swing at Prussia.

"Happy, da?" Your eyes were wide a you saw Prussia on the ground, his head slightly bleeding, he was passed out.

"I-Ivan you… you…" you couldn't even finish the sentence, you thought he had killed the Prussia, but Russia wasn't stupid enough to that, Prussia hadn't laid a hand on you yet, he would wait until then for a fatal blow.

"I protected you" you said finally, turning to face you, you couldn't help but hug him, and to more of your surprise, you hugged you back tightly.

"Come home with me, da?"

"Da"
